Welcome

 Meeting Children's Needs

Origins Learning Community was founded in 2019 by parents, teachers, childcare providers, and trainers in the Houston, Texas area. After getting to know many childcare teachers and parents in the Houston community and hearing stories about the social and emotional struggles their children were facing, we created programs to guide children and the adults in their lives to gain important skills to manage stress, express emotion, connect with others, and make responsible decisions. By doing this, children's behavior issues improve, they develop healthy self-esteem, reduce their stress, and feel motivated to take on challenges they face in school and the community.

Research has continually shown since 2005 that somewhere around 50,000 preschoolers are kicked out of child care each year because of behavior concerns. That is roughly 137 children a day. Some studies say this number is even higher! These children have so much to offer their communities, but struggle to reach their full potential because of lack of social-emotional support. With community support, we can give adults in their lives the skills to advocate for and support them, helping them perform better in school and become compassionate and successful members of our community.

We would love your support. There are a number of ways you can help us:
